Statement

I have selected work from the exploratory stage of the course and also work from my Fashion/Textiles pathway. I feel that the work I have selected shows a variety of skills, which reflects my diverse way of working as I like to experiment with new techniques.

Doing a Textiles degree will give me all the opportunities to develop my skills and gain more of an in-depth knowledge and experience of what textile design entails.

I feel that the facilities available to me on the course will constantly inspire me. I am just starting to discover a variety of techniques that I enjoy and I am excited to learn new skills which will allow me to grow as a designer and be a part of the textile industry.

Wax Batik

This is a sample using wax batik, this was the first time I used this technique and it was a learning curve for me to try something new.

Babes in the Wood (Look Book) Part 2

This was an extension from the book project still using the theme of Babes in the Wood I had to produce a Fashion Look Book. I really enjoyed this project and I feel that I learnt a range of new techniques and I particularly enjoyed using a recycled book to work in, instead of working in a sketchbook.

Babes in the Wood (Final Design) Part 1

This was part of a book project whereby I had to use the pages of the book as my material. I chose the book Babes in the Wood and used the illustrations to create a small collection of childrenswear. I enjoyed using the pages from the recylced book as my material. The above image is a childrens bib that I made using reverse applique.
